About Me
About Me
Welcome!

I’m Heydi Hurtado, licensed therapist and founder of Peace Cove Counseling. I’m a bilingual Afro-Latina. After several years on my own wellness journey, I've cultivated a faith-based therapeutic space that empowers black and brown folk to find their voice, and develop better relationships with themselves and with others.
I had the honor of graduating from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, and received additional postgraduate training at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. I have been providing mental health services to individuals and families for 10+ years.
I earned my post-master certificate from the NYU Silver School of Social Work in Advanced Clinical Practice. I gained invaluable experience at the New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center (NYPCC) for seven years while working with individuals and families who learned healthier ways to navigate life transitions, and cope with grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, conflict in family and peer relationships, and academic challenges.
A few fun facts:
-
I enjoy outdoor activities and love the thrill of extreme sports.
- I LOVE music and singing.
- The quote that most resonates with me right now is, "do not settle on being a lesser version of yourself!" - Tim Ross
